What We Do

The Children's Wellness Coalition of Snohomish County is a community-led network of individuals and organizations committed to improving the health, well-being, and resilience of children and families across our region. We bring together cross-sector partners—including schools, healthcare providers, nonprofits, public agencies, and community leaders—to collaborate on shared goals that support thriving childhoods.

Rooted in equity and guided by local voices, our coalition works to address the root causes of disparities in health and well-being, strengthen protective factors and promote environments where all children can grow up safe, supported, and connected. From promoting mental and behavioral health to increasing access to care and support services, we take a holistic and collaborative approach to wellness.

Together, we envision a Snohomish County where every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential- regardless of their zip code, background, or circumstance.

History of CWC

The Children’s Wellness Coalition began in the summer of 2015 as a Snohomish County Human Services initiative to promote children's wellness through collaboration and community engagement. What started as a space for sharing and networking quickly evolved into a countywide effort to improve youth mental health.

By early 2016, the Coalition began surveying schools to understand young people’s adversities and social-emotional needs which led to a partnership across Snohomish County to implement trauma-informed practices in schools. In November of that year, we also launched the Resilience Conference, an annual event featuring local and national experts focused on building trauma-informed, resilient communities.

In 2017, we introduced the CARE (Compassion, Appreciation, Resilience & Empowerment) initiative, offering hands-on training for schools, agencies, and organizations to embed trauma-informed practices into their everyday work.

With support from Snohomish County, we’ve helped school districts and over 100 community-based organizations build lasting systems of support for students and families. Today, the Coalition meets quarterly, our Youth Suicide Prevention Taskforce meets monthly to address rising concerns around youth suicide, the Resilience Conference is held once a year and new CARE organizations are trained every year.

We’re proud of how far we've come! We invite you to join us in building a more resilient future for all children and families in Snohomish County.
